The GfGD Database of Geoscience Higher Education Courses in Eastern and Southern Africa
GfGD student ambassadors have compiled a database of taught geoscience higher education courses. This database strengthens geoscience education and supports sustainable development goals in eastern and southern Africa.
Sustainable Water Sources in Eastern Africa: Small NGOs’ Access to Geoscience Expertise - Update
Based on results from this project, Brenda Wagaba has suggested a framework for addressing major barriers to water-focused NGOs’ access to geoscience expertise.
Strengthening Geoscience Education for Sustainable Development in Kenya - Update
Key recommendations from this project include strengthening and supplementing existing geosciences postgraduate training courses on themes aligned with Vision 2030 (such as renewable energy, disaster preparedness and climate change, and water, amongst others), to ensure its needs are met.

GfGD Contributes to the 2021 UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
Following the establishment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, a UN forum meets annually to review progress. This year, GfGD has contributed to a report together with other science and engineering organisations, in which we advocate for governments to endorse the International Geodiversity Day.
Strengthening Geoscience Education for Sustainable Development in Kenya
A new GCRF-funded project will identify how geoscience education in Kenya can be further developed and paves the way for similar development globally. This work builds on previous work carried out by GfGD Student Ambassadors.
