Research opportunities

Geoscience for Global Development invites university researchers and supervisors to develop three ideas linking geoscience and sustainable development. The concepts can be adapted to a master’s project, a PhD or a wider research programme, reflecting partners’ expertise and geographical focus.

The value of geological data

Assess how geological information contributes to development decisions, public services and investment, and how its benefits can be evaluated.

Designing geological data infrastructure

Explore how geological information can be organised, shared and used in ways that respond to the needs of decision makers and communities.

A pipeline of geoscience talent

Investigate whether geoscience education in selected low and middle-income countries aligns with development priorities and employers’ needs, and how students view geoscience careers.

Working with GfGD

GfGD can contribute two or three check-ins during a project, connections to relevant networks and support with sharing findings. Partners would lead the academic work and shape the scope together with GfGD.
