GfGD annual report and review for 2025

Geoscience for Global Development (GfGD) has published its annual report and review for 2025, sharing progress in research, policy engagement, education and partnerships.

The report brings together the work of our volunteers and partners to support sustainable and resilient communities. It also sets out our charitable objectives, governance and finances.

Highlights from 2025

GfGD helped bring geoscience perspectives into United Nations processes, including a written contribution to the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and a joint statement ahead of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.

At the Colloquium of African Geology in Nairobi, Kenya, GfGD shared resources, contributed to sessions and strengthened relationships with scientists and organisations across Africa. Listening to partners’ priorities is helping shape our training and policy work.

Research continued on water management in sub-Saharan Africa, climate policy, education for sustainable development and the connections between science and policy. GfGD also supported access to learning resources, including the free course on how natural hazard scientists can contribute to sustainable and resilient communities.

These activities were made possible by the time and expertise of volunteers, contributions from partners and the generosity of donors. We thank everyone who supported GfGD’s work, including the International Union of Geological Sciences.
