IUGS Continues Support to GfGD

We are grateful to the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) for their continued support of our work through 2023. Over the last five years, IUGS grants have enabled us to advance research, engage in policy processes, and produce learning resources aligned with the ambitions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

With a mission to encourage international co-operation and participation in the Earth sciences in relation to human welfare, the IUGS has approximately 120 national members, representing over a million geoscientists worldwide. Our goals align with and contribute to the scientific objectives of the IUGS, including:

• Enhancing the visibility of the geosciences and demonstrating their relevance to rehabilitating and preserving future Earth.

• Contributing to education and advancement of public understanding of geoscientists’ significance in solving societal problems.

• Fostering collaborations in Earth science research, capacity building, and applications

• Encouraging cooperation with organisations for inter-disciplinary involvement in developing solutions to global problems.
